Turn your dial rheostat into a digital readout

I bought this both to measure our electricity usage, and to get an idea of how much power my heat lamp was drawing at various rheostat settings. It will read Watts directly, so you can spin your rheostat around and get the actual amount of energy your lamp (or whatever) is giving off.

I've found it very useful to set my lamp to consume X watts when the ambient air is Y degrees. No more guessing about how far to turn the rheostat knob.

So if you don't have a thermostat, try this out. And of course, you can use it for its original purpose of measuring the power drain of your various electrical devices around the house.
