OK... I am gonna go ahead and say I am not a scientist or vet by any means, but here are my possible answers.

1) The pine shavings are dyed and to cut back on production costs, the company is not prewashing them enough. Picking up oils in the shavings are the most logical to me.

2) You installed a pink light and forgot about that... LOL

Are there any wooden hides in their cage? If so, are any of them red or purple, or maybe even PINK? I had a wooden hide that was dyed blue in one of my mouse tanks once, and they would pee on the wood and the dye would run and they would be bluish.

Its fairly normal for mice and rats to change different shades as they grow older ... its called molting. However I have never seen nor heard of one going pink.

If its a siamese (mostly white body with dark on head, butt, and feet) some of the lighter shades can look like pink.

If you wouldnt mind please post a pic.

I've had that happen. It was a result of the bedding they had. I think it was either pine or red ceder it was the only bag of bedding our pet store had and we needed it. I've also seen them turn Yellow.

I can see the pink blush in the last pic.

I would attribute that to more of a temp change than anything else. It is probably molting and the pink is coming through. Is it in a temp controlled room or near a window?

Upon seeing it I immediately thought of my dad ... hes a red head ... most of the time his hair is a darker brown color but in the summer the sun bleaches it and turns it to that color of red.

Your bedding doesnt look like cedar.

Temp change will not change the coat color of a PEW rat. My guess is it is the bedding or something else from in the cage rubbing off onto the rats. Or it is porphyrin discharge although that is more of a reddish/brown and not pink like the photo shows. Funky.

Alias ... it isnt a pink eyed white (PEW). Check the pictures its a beige or tan. Temp would contribute to molting or shedding (losing some hair due to being too warm and skin pigment showing through). Or it could also be sunbleached if the enclosure is near the window.

Porphyrin discharge is normally only seen around the nose, eyes, and mouth. It would not extend into its rear end. It is also usually accompanied with coughing or raspy breathing.

While the picture below is a siamese and not a PEW the only difference that can be seen is the brown nose.

They are PEW's and they are all very healthy. The pics don't really show just how pink they really are.
As a test I threw a fuzzy sized mouse in w/ a mother rat w/her own litter. And in 1 weeks time the mouse is showing signs of pink.My mouse rack is 4 ft away from my rat rack and i use the same bedding and food,Sill no pink mice in the rack.I'm thinking I need to flush the water system.Maybe there is something growing in the flex tubing?
