Gig 'Em Ags!! Whoop!!
Ok so I'm not sure whats going to happen here but I'm a little worried. I was at my grandparents for the past two days and when I get back and look in my tubs tonight, low and behold boo has laid eggs! No prelay shed or anything. The eggs look really dry, but i very put them in a shoebox style container with some very damp sphagnum moss and put it in my incubation site in my room. Do you think they have a chance or did I catch them too late and their already gone? They all look like good eggs, just very very dehydrated at the moment.

You've done all you can at the moment. Only time will tell if the eggs will plump back up and go on to yield hatchlings.

Ditto to what Susan said. One of my girls laid outside her lay box when I was out of town. When I got back all the eggs looked like big white raisins. I put them in moist vermiculite, but most didn't make it. Out of 22 eggs, 5 have made it, and are doing great thus far. Hopefully some, if not most will plump back up.

Side note: exciting that Boo laid eggs! She really must have taken off for you to be laying eggs!

She really did. In the past year she's gotten huge! Thanks for the help everyone. I guess I'll wait and see. It looks like two are plump and normal looking right now and I guess time will tell with the others. Looks like I've got 13 eggs total.

If you had no prelaying shed at all, then those are likely going to be slugs. I have never had a cornsnake lay GOOD eggs without a prelaying shed first. :(

That's kind of what I figured too KJ, but I want to at least make sure they're slugs before writing them off and tossing them out.

Side Note: I didn't respond to your email just because I was in Houston and wasn't going to be able to make it. I'm going to be here for the rest of the summer though and we need to get out and do some herping or figure out some night when I can come over and see the facility. How was the end of the year for you?

Yeah, all you can do really is put them in damp sphagnum MOSS and let them rehybdrate. They will if they are good and not dead from dehydration. You can also cover them with a DAMP paper towel (re-moisten as needed) inside of the vermic/perlite/whatever substrate you set them up in to help if you don't have the damp sphagnum moss to put on to of the eggs in the incubation mixture.

We were just having 2 friends over Saturday evening before they headed out to Arkansas for a new job. You didn't miss much - just deer steaks grilled with mushrooms and onions in a brown gravy, mashed potatoes, fresh Amish bread, salad, brown crowders (like black-eyed peas), fresh broccoli soup, fresh boiled corn, fresh greens, and home-made boysenberry-vanilla ice cream. No biggie. :)

...I hate you man.... I really hate you lol

KJ

I did have one female lay a fertile clutch while in early blue with her pre-lay shed. It was unusual, but they all hatched.

Well, on a good note, the eggs are plumping up a bit and it looks like 3 or 4 are normal. And guess what else...Boo just shed lol so I guess she decided to lay while she was in blue. She pounded the crap out of some mice and is looking good so I'm hopeful but only time will tell. Thanks for the advice and help ya'll. :D Once again proves that this place rocks!
