Umm...this is NOT Ruby!

I went to feed the mice a few minutes ago and saw a snake on the mouse cage that I keep on the porch. I thought Ruby had gotten out once again because it was almost the same size as her. I hurried and picked "Ruby" up and it started tail rattling. Ruby never does that to me but I thought that she was really pissed off with me "catching her again". I also thought that she had gotten a bit bigger since this morning, and for a moment thought that it could not be Ruby. I opened Ruby's cage and she was in there! I started freaking out because I relised that the snake in my hand was NOT Ruby. Possibly, it is one of her relatives since this is the same location that she was caught over a year ago. I put it in a spare container, gave it one of the mice that it was eyeing, then when it was done put some bedding, water and airholes. I showed everyone in the house, telling them that the snake I was holding was some other snake. I hope it is a male for Ruby! If it happens again, I really would not mind at all.

Both are a miami phase corn snake, and I discovered that the new snake is female as well. I now have 2 beautiful wild caught miami phase corns!

Thought it was great - 3 different allusions in one name! Restaurant, snake namesake, and the day it was caught! Great - thanks for a laugh!

That's so funny, a snake handing itself in to be a pet! "please take me in and feed me, it's a hard world out here!"
