Umm...what is this guy?

Ok, I bought this guy from a local pet store as an "okeetee" about two years ago. At the time, he was about 4-5 months old and dark brown/tan in color. I figured he'd lighten up with age.

Well, two years later, he's NOT an okeetee. Don't know what he IS though. Here's a picture.

I thought that maybe he was a caramel, but I kinda wanted some more expert opinions. It doesn't matter WHAT he is, I still like him. I'm not breeding for anything special this year, so whaever happens happens.

Looks familiar...

Looks similar to my "Miami" (that's what a lot of people call him, but I have a hard time with that, I ONLY like the Miamis with not a trace of ground coloration)

For months when I first got him, I thought he looked as much like the "Caramel" pics I had seen as the "normal" pics I'd seen.

IMO yours has kinda "blah" colors, too.. but pattern symmetry like that is SO hard to find. I like him.

I feel the same way about my buddy Brutus. Regardless of name or title, I still think he's beautiful in his own right. :)

To me it actually looks a lot like a Rootbeer corn, aka emoryi corn. The "normal" version of a creamsicle. Here is a pic of mine and he is still a young one. I imagine his colors ending up a bit like yours.

I have no idea what he is...

I just want to know why his head looks squished. Does it look like that to anyone else?

Yes, now that I look at it a bit closer, there is something about the eye placement and head shape that doesn't look right. I was just looking at the color before. It's head looks like some sort of hybrid. Clearer shots of the head woud be helpful.

LOL

Ok, his head looks "squished" because he jammed it under my hand while I was hitting the scan button on my scanner (aka, cheap person's digi cam), lol. So it scanned with his head squeezed under my thumb. Since he's cooling, I don't want to bother him again, but I can assure you that his head is normal on the outside. What's going on inside, well, your guess is as good as mine. :p

Although normals can come in a large variety of sheds, your snake looks alot like one of my caramels. This is a pic of Toffee, my female caramel het butter from Rich.

Heh, I recognize you from livejournal. I think I saw the scanned pics of your snakes and invited you to join my LJ community.

Anyway, hi. My username on there is psygirl and my community is called "cornsnakes", if you're interested :)
