Unexpected Snake Escape

Hey guys... long time no see.

My snake, Vipera, is almost a year old now, pushing 3 feet and as big around as a quarter.

I feel like a retard for posting this, but she escaped. We have no idea how. Her enclosure is a 55g corner aquarium, and the lid is part glass and part plastic (the plastic part detaches). Anyway, I taped the plastic part to the glass with duct tape, and I can't pick it up off the aquarium, and that would be her only escape... a straight 2 and half feet up into the air thru a half an inch gap.

Assuming she didn't disappear into another dimension... I need some tips on finding her :\ I left my room nice and dark with a bunch of hides and water out, blocked the gap under my door, and searched under my bed and in all of my computer wires... I plan on leaving out a mouse tonight because she hasn't eaten in 2 weeks due to shedding... but is there anything else I can do?

Thanks...

Search along walls, and try any warm, moist (or both) spots. I found my first (*knocks on wood* and only) escape behind my water heater, which was a straight line from the viv, if you were only sticking to the walls.
You can also dust the floor with flour, to see if there are any 'tracks' in the morning.
They usually turn up...I hope you find your snake!

You could also make a bottle trap (although I've heard tape is more effective...)
you cut the neck end off of a plastic drink bottle leaving some plastic around it so that it looks like a funnel, put dirty mouse shavings inside the bottom piece, stick the the cut piece in the bottom part cut side out, to make an inverted cone, put it against a wall and hope!! putting a heat mat under it (not too hot!), making it dark, all of these things could help.
search 'bottle trap' to get better instructions. Or 'escape' for other methods...it happens pretty commonly. ;)

I have had 3 escapees. One I found in the linen closet directly across from the room where the tank was. Then another I found in between my photo albums on the floor right near the heater and the last case was extremely lucky and you can read about it it this thread

I hope you find your snake. All mine were tiny when they escaped not anywhere near the size of yours. They can survive months without food, but I suspect it will turn up when you are not looking for it.

just so everyone knows, Vipera is safe now! my boyfriend found her behind a cabinet as we were talking about trying to find her...

thanks for all the help though guys =]
