I feel like i run a zoo!!
ok well my young corn tango is about 7-8 months old now and is doing great, but as he is eating 3-4 pinkies every 7 days im wondering if i should move him up to fuzzies but i dont know how many fuzzies i should feed him at a time and i am also a little worried about what to do if something goes wrong with the first fuzzie feeding .
can anyone help out with some advise ?

thanks

Woa, I would assume after a few double pinkie feedings you would try a fuzzy. How thick is the widest part of his body in comparison with a fuzzy?

im not to sure i have put a pic of him in the photos board under tango+ question , take a look and see what you think!!!!

Yea I actually just noticed that thread and though, I swear I just responded to this. haha. Id move on to fuzzies for sure, I cant wait for the jump in food size.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that there is little danger from feeding a snake a mouse that's a size too big. Either he will eat it and everything's okay (provided your viv is at the correct temperatures and such), or he'll up and refuse it because it looks too big to him, or he may even start eating it and change his mind, regurgitating it partway through the process or after it's gone down.

Your snake will not pop if you feed him a size too big, not to worry. (-: I believe that if your feeder is no more than 1.5 times as wide as your snakes' head, you're just fine.

Someone else correct me on all that (-: Thta's just my impressions.

Basic rule of thumb is you can feed a snake a prey item that is one and a half times wider than the widest part of the snakes body. You don't want to feed anything too large or the snake could refuse it, or if it does manage to get it down it could potentially regurge.

I would suggest moving up to fuzzies if you have been feeding 3-4 pinkies per week. Try one at the first feeding that is one and a half times wider than the widest part of your snakes body. You should see a visible lump after feeding.

If your snake is taking 4 pinkies in one sitting, I'd say it's time to go up a size. If you're not squeamish, you can cut the back of the (F/T) mouse. This will help your snake digest the food.

Regurgitation is definetly an issue you want to avoid at any cost. It probably is quite unlikely for a corn snake to burst, but I certainly would be more cautious about the risk of a regurge. ;)
