Wow, I just got the biggest fright of my life! I have come home and looked in the tank and thought that Zeth was missing!
After moving some if the substrate around he came flying out and nearly jumped fully out of the tank!

How are you supposed to know if they are hiding or missing? How long would you leave it before you decided they were gone?

I wouldn't wait at all, but I know mine bury themselves in the substrate so I always sift thru it fully before getting worried. With the plastic tubs I can always look underneath to see if I see them there.

I don't mind sifting through, but it looked like it gave him such a shock.
I just don't want to keep scaring him like that!

Sometimes you just wake them up and they're not ready for you. It happens. I usually lift hides and such first so that by the time I find them, they're pretty aware that I'm around.
