Upside Down Snake?

 This morning when I went into Pete's (my bull snake's) cage, at first I could not find him. Then I saw a bump underneath the repticarpet. I pulled the carpet up, and found him laying down there upside down! Being exposed, he rolled himself back over, and I picked him up. He acted normal after that.

I have never seen a living snake upside down... anyone know why he might have done this? Could something be wrong?

I don't know much about bull snakes, but maybe he got under there and while looking for a way out, he turned over and couldn't fix himself?

Suspect he was probably "playing dead" if he's been normal ever since.

Quick check of the temps might be a precaution. Overly-high temps for too long can cause neurological damage which might result in movement/positional problems. But if temps are routinely below 90 degrees at the warm end, that shouldn't be the problem.

Thanks for the replies. Seems to be a good chance that he was looking for a way to get out. He was sort of wedged between the side of the tank and his hide. I have a thermometer in his cage all the time and check it pretty frequently, and I don't let it get anywhere near 90. So hopefully he was just stuck or playing dead!
