Using wood...

If it going to be use as decoration (branch) just make sure you clean it well.
a small amount of bleach and water rincew well and air out with NO fumes.

yeah with mine i strippedoff all of thebark and shaved off any green bits left, cleaned with water and a SMALL amount of bleach, then left it to dry until the next time i cleaned the viv out.

OR, you can cook them on a low-ish for a while but they have to be small pieces to do that.

Hope this helps !

I bake at 350 for 15 minutes.....I guess it's up to opinion. That's just how I was always informed to do it.

I picked the low temp because insects can't survive 150F, and I didn't want any accidental spontaneous combustion going on!

I am thinking about using a few branches off trees to use in my viv. Can i use any branch or is there certain trees to avoid. Do i just treat them in exactly the same way - strip bark and then put in oven?

I've heard of people who also freeze things from outside to get rid of bugs, etc on them. But I have never done this before..

It has been said that you should not use aromatic woods..like pine, fir, eucalyptus etc. as it can cause respiratory infections.
