UTH cracked tank

And yes, I've already ordered a rheostat. In the meantime, will the corn be in any real danger if he decides to rub his nose on the crack? The crack is at the bottom of the tank, under the aspen, and I can barely feel the crack with my fingers when I rub them across. I seriously doubt it could cut the little guy, but I wondered if any of you have had any experience with this sort of thing. Should I replace the bottom panel? Thanks.

Is the crack on the Bottom? If so you can cut a piece of plexiglass and lay it in the bottom and silicone the edges and you have a new bottom, put some aspen over it and you would never know, I have done this before works good!

Because any time a snake and tape are in the same area, the snake gets stuck in the tape. Without fail. And then you can easily injure the snake removing it from the tape.

Okay, just asking because i use tape on the outside of the viv close to the ventilation. Don't wanna poison my pet :p

I had a problem with this, it was an old tank with chips coming off of it with an old heating pad and the heating pad was coming off so i just threw the whole thing away and bought a new 20L from petsmart for $28

I recently just got a heatpad and the instructions gave some useful advice. It says to keep water/waterdishes away from where it is heating. If any water gets in contact with the heat pad..even tho it is the under the tank..it will cause pressure cracks. Make sure there are no air bubbles between the UTH and the tank.

Just giving advice to prevent cracking :D but otherwise I don't think cracks can bother unless they are super sharp or deep.

If a UTH is unregulated, then this is a risk - it overheats the glass and a spill of cold water can cause cracks. Once you have a thermostat or rheostat installed and running at a Corn's safe temperature, it will never get hot enough to do this even if water drops onto the glass floor.

I had this problem when I bought a tank from zoomed, it had a background that I removed and didn't know it was tapped in. I couldn't see the strips of tape at all and one day my snake was dangling on the back glass appearing to be floating. I tripped out for a second and when I went to get him I noticed the tape strip. Took me a minute to get him off, I had to go slow and could hear him peeling away from the tape....they should really put a bigger warning label for two sided tape haha.
