UTH for a 20 long

Zindar

So I'm moving my little guy to a 20 long cause he's not so little anymore :) and I have a question about my UTH.
For my 10 gallon I have a reptitherm UTH that says its good for 10 - 20 gallon tanks.
It seemed a little small for the 20 long so I bought a larger UTH. Problem is, the new one doesn't fit front to back. It'll fit sideways, but it takes up about half the bottom. The original UTH takes up about 1/4 of the 20 long.

So, is the smaller one too small? Is the bigger one too big? Truthfully, Nagazal doesn't hang out too much on the heated side - I have it hooked up to a thermostat and the temps are fine - so maybe the smaller one will be fine, I'm just not sure.

Covering one-third of the floor area with the UTH is ideal, but it isn't an exact science. Mine always make more use of the cool side as well - it's pretty normal with Corns.

If that was my situation, as long as the whole snake can fit onto the smaller one at the same time, then I'd go with that one. But honestly, I don't think either option is likely to cause a problem as long as the temp is right.

Thanks Bitsy.

Right now, he can still fit on the whole UTH. I guess I'll keep the larger one for when he gets bigger and outgrows the small one.
