Hey whats up?
Some Quesions i have:
1. Whats the best UTH? (quality, profomance, pirce)
2. Do they have any with timers to turn on and off at a preprogramed time?
3. Can you have 2 heat sides? ie: 73 degrees on one side and 83 on the other?

Notes: i have a 20gallon tank

I'm fairly new at this but..

I use a heat mat for muscles I bought at Walmart for $18.99. Set on low it keeps my tank at 83 on the hot side. The mat is about 10"X12" so it cover half the tank perfectly. the other half is about 73 I have a basking lamp at about 2/3 of the tank (88-92 degrees) so it covers about 4" of the cold side then theres still about 10" of cold. The good thing about the heat mat is it doesn't stick to the tank so It can always be used for other tanks. And the price difference Here in canada the reptile UTH are about $60.00 and the heat mat was under $20.00.

I personally like the Cobra heat mats. They generally don't get nearly as hot as Zoomed or ExoTerra, plus they don't come with an adhesive, so you can re-use it. Then on top of that, the quality just seems a lot better. I feel like my Cobra mats will last forever, but I can't say the same for Zoomed.

I've used both ZooMed and ExoTerra brands. I think the ZooMed are a better quality. They also tend to run a little warmer which is nice because you can always back the heat off with a rheostat, getting it warmer is different story.
