ive got a 40 gallon aquarium, and i need to know how big of a uth to get. its 3 feet wide, by 1 foot. i dont have a corn snake yet, but i will be getting one in a month or two, and would like to get everything in order first. im so excited, my wife finally agreed to let me get a snake. i dont know if any of you remember me, but about 7 months ago i was on here learning about corns. but my wife wouldnt let me get one, well after months of bugging. i can finally get one.

Well that is sweet of her. You need to be like, "Honey, I am getting a snake. You should go out and buy yourself something nice--maybe another snake."

---She will come around soon; she will be asking you about getting more snakes.

Seriously though, a UTH that covers ~1/3 of the bottom area of your tank is sufficient.

If you're going to a pet store, you might also just wait until you get there. All three of the UTH's I've purchased have had a recommended tank size on the box. 1/3 is probably a general rule, but my 20gal UTH is not 1/3 the size and it does a fine job.

Yup I agree usually you want 1/4 to 1/2 of the cage covered by the Uth. $0 gal is a great size as well. Post some pics when you get your corn:)
Cheers
