VE-100 Probe problem

Hey all,

My Vivarium Electronics probe is having a problem. The thermostat keeps making clicking sounds, and when it does the probe either reads at half the actual temperature or doesn't register any temperature at all. This is only for a second at a time, but it keeps recurring every 5 seconds and is driving me crazy! I tried taking the probe away from the heat mat and cleaning its tip, but that didn't work. How do I fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I've never had this happen, but do own VE's. I would unplug the unit for a minute, then plug back up and reset the temps. If that doesn't work, I'd look into contacting them.

We run everything on VE's, we had this problem once and had to send the entire unit back to be replaced. Since we replaced that one unit we have had no other problems (aside from having to replace one probe but that is minor and happens with any unit). It was a bit of a run around to get it replaced but they finally admitted that there was a problem with the unit itself and replaced it for me.

Chip's solution seems to have worked. I unplugged and immediately replugged it earlier, but leaving it unplugged for longer seems to have worked. Thank you very much!

This thermostat works fine 99.9% of the time, and I guess this isn't the worst problem it could have. Weird, though.

Yay! I would still keep an eye on it, that might not be a permanent fix.
