Vermiculite (Reptile grade v.s Garden grade)

Erika N.

Waiting in anticipation!
Is there any real difference between the reptile specific vermiculite and the bag that I could pick up at my local garden center?

Is there a difference in quality or is it just price?

Thanks,
Erika

As long as there are no additives, ie pesticides, it is the same thing. The pet market is a huge buisness now, so if they can lable something for pets they can jack the prices way up. IE a 50lb bag of feline pine pellets is $30, a 50lbs bag of wood stove pellets $5. 1lb bag of hay marketed for small pets $5, a 60lb bale of horse hay $3.
