Vet recommendation in Plano, TX?

Can anybody recommend a reputable (and maybe affordable!) vet in Plano or Frisco, TX? One of my little buddies (Dashi, who is about 4 months old now) has a lump similar in appearance to the ones discussed here lately (related to Crypto). I spotted it last week, before reading those threads, at his regular Sunday feeding --- thought it was unusual, but maybe it was a slow digestion (it's been a bit cool here, so his tank had dropped to 70 for a low for a few days --- 76 for a high). He ate eagerly, though. No regurge. Poop appears normal. I fed him again this past Sunday, and again he ate eagerly. No regurge (it's currently Monday night).

My wife has called around, and found the "Plantation Pet Health Center" in Frisco. I've never dealt with them before, so .... if I don't hear anything about any other vets, that's where we'll take him (arranging the appointment tomorrow, for as soon as we can get it). Hopefully this is just a bacterial thing that can be cleared up with a little antibiotic. If it's crypto ---- all my buddies cages (6 of them) will get very thorough cage cleanings, etc., just to be on the safe side.

Thanks!

john

Don't let the threads scare you. Crypto isn't that common.

I used to live in Frisco, but I never needed a herp vet during that period. You can call the Vet School Teaching Hospital at Texas A&M and see if they can recommend an exotics specialist in Collin County. They keep pretty good tabs on the current location of former students.

FWIW, one of the main symptoms of Crypto is the inability to keep food down. If you snake isn't regurging all his meals, I doubt it has Crypto. :)

bacterial?

Yeah, I swapped some email with Don (Dashi is a red blood from Don, at SMR). He suggested that it might be bacterial --- and also on the plus side, Dashi has not regurged a single time. I'm hopeful! I can deal with a bacterial infection much easier than crypto .... and my 9 year old who is the "owner" of this particular pet will be much happier.

Good suggestion about A&M.

Thanks!
