Vibrating corn???

Hello all,

I've had my corn Angel 2 years this comming march and she has been fantastic. She eats well, sheds well and has had a lovely temprement since the day i got her. Anyways recently i got the flu and was ill for a few weeks and didnt handle her at all during that time and now when i reach into her viv to pick her up her whole body vibrates like she has an electrical current running through her. I'm thinking this a warning sign to say "hey leave me alone" Shes never done it before and tbh i'm a little baffled with the sudden change.
Should i just carry on as normal and keep handling her when she's doing this or just leave her be and try again another time?

Just carry on as normal, being gentle and patient. It could be that she's "forgotten" you, or maybe she's just hit sexually maturity. The jerking can either be a warning or an invitation to mate and we're in the breeding season now.

It is definitely mating behavior, I was a little shocked the first time a female did this to me. By touching her you are stimulating her and she is giving out "I'm ready to Rock'n'Roll" vibes...quite literally!

wow I never cease to be amazed at what I learn in here.
What about boys? Do they do anything unusual like that?

You don't even need to be anywhere near them (males), mine is non stop crazy for two months of ever year. They also go on hunger strike - they're hunting for laydees ;)

Here's a question then! How young does a male have to be before he starts exhibiting mating behaviour? Longbottom is 8 months old and lately he's all over the friggin place! I have his tank next to another 08 female(who is also very crazy at the moment). I thought they'd be to young to be in the mood to breed. Could I be wrong?

One of my holdback Blood males is very active as well and I suspect mating behavior.I think the youngest documented females that ovulated and laid healthy eggs was only 9 months old if I remember correctly, so I would imagine 08' males being ready earlier could easily happen.

Well then maybe I should move Lovegood's tank! Not that it's hurting anything but it makes me nervous watching 'em both "climb" to the top of their tanks and flop back down all night. And now it's not just at night either. It's all throughout the day too! Eventually we'll mate 'em to eachother but not now! Crazy, lovesick kids!

that's probably a good idea because it may also cause him to go off feed...

I didn't think of that! He took his first 2 pinks last Sunday great and after that is when we noticed he started acting like this. Funnily enough, Granger isn't doing the same things at all. But he's across the room from the female.

My yearling 1.0 hypo did the whole twitching thing around a mature female. I wasn't breeding them, I just had her out on my bed. My wife came over and placed him on the bed for a sec, so I could watch him while she cleaned poop from his viv. He got a whiff of her and began twitching. This little snake started twitching like a teenager at the beach. It was so funny! Or at least I thought it was.

Snake teasing is illegal in most states, please check with your local Board of Directors.

That's funny, some of my corns do the same thing. Pretty sure it's just that they're nervous. Sometimes my okeetee will do that when I just touch him, like he's just twitching his muscles in a "please stop touching me" kind of way. My ghost did it once, and she felt like my cell phone.
