Viv on floor

Well, Im rearranging my room today. Im rying to get more surface area for all the crap I have around here. Is it ok to put my corn's viv directly on the ground? I mean...I know they DO live on the ground in the wild, but will walking near the viv, and stuff like that bother him too much?

Also, what are your recomendations of putting under my UTH to prevent the carpet (or any other surface for that matter) from getting too hot? I guess some kind of ceramic tile would work right? Are there special tiles that are specifically good for hot surfaces?

Thanks

There shouldn't be a problem with placing it on the floor. Maybe you could lay a piece of plywood under the viv and that would keep the UTH from heating the carpet (although I doubt that it would cause a fire, it still cold overheat the UTH).

As long as there's no trafic past the viv and they're not getting startled by the sudden appearance of feet all the time or if there's any risk of anyone accidentaly kicking/tripping over/knocking the lid off the viv, then go for it, but I wouldn't do it personally. I think they'd be happier a little high up rather than on the floor.

My corn's cage is on the floor (I live in a dorm with little space) and I prop it up on some 1" x 1" strips of wood. Works great. And she doesn't seemed bothered by it at all.

I have him in a corner, so there isnt much traffic going by him. The viv I have doesnt have a lid, its made by herpcages.com, so it has a locking front door. I check under the viv every once and a while, and it doesn't seem to be getting too hot. So I guess its ok.
