Sorry, can't help you personally, but I just got a 40gal from Petsmart last week for $97. I know the stores are all different, but I'm just over in SK, so might be they have similar products going out of stock right now. You might luck out if you give them a call.
 
I can't imagine cleaning a 30gal anymore. I hate glass. If a top-notch display viv isn't your goal, think about a properly secured plastic tub. Iris makes very transparent tubs, unlike Sterilite (which I use) and Rubbermaid, which are somewhat less transparent. And they make for much easier portability. Check office stores, and Wal-mart/Target type department stores.
