warm temperatures

i didn't really know where to put this thread...
I am moving into an apartment this summer and most of them don't provide air conditioning unless you pay the big $$$ and it often gets pretty hot during the summer... my question is whether it is necessary for there to be a temperature gradient if it's not possible to get a cool side. Example: if the outside temp reaches 32 C (90 F) and i shut off all heat lamps (useless) at that point. Will the temperature get too dangerous for the snake? As it stands, during the summer I turn the A/C on with the heat lamps to provide a cool side and warm side (very expensive on the electricity bills).
Any advice would be helpful for those who understand my question :smash:
