Water bowl Snake

one of my snakes keeps sitting in her water bowl with her head under the water! is this normal?
or should i be worried?

I can't answer your question, but my snake last night was cruising around and stuck his head under the water in his water bowl. Not sure why he did this, and it was only for maybe 10 seconds. He looked like he was checking out the bottom of the water bowl. Then he just went and started making more tunnels in the Aspen. Maybe he had some Aspen on his face somewhere he wanted to get rid of. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. :eek1:

Soaking could mean it's going to be shedding soon, it's too warm and it's trying to cool off or it could mean it has mites. Do you know the last time it shed or if it is currently blue? Are the temps correct? Any signs of mites?

Jake shed on Aug 29th. There are no signs of mites at all. The temps are in the mid 70's cool side and low 80's on the warm side. He has never actually laid in the water bowl, just last night he had his head under the water for about 10 seconds. Otherwise he acts normally. No feeding problems or any other strange behavior. Unless he starts doing this all the time, I am not going to worry. All is good as far as I am concerned. I was just stating what I saw in relation to the first post in this thread.

I was actually responding to the first person's post. Glad to hear your's is doing well though.

DAND has already helped you out quite a bit, but I'd ad that you really need to be worried if she keeps her head underwater tooooo long . . . :sidestep:

They turn blue and fall over.....They won't hold their breath until they die, no more than a child would. They'll know when it's too long! Their capacity to hold their breath is pretty substantial.
