Weaning babies

I kinda got sidetracked with when on earth these baby mice were born but I am almost positive they are coming up on or at 3 weeks. But let me describe them, I can see them chewing on some food all of their eyes are open and they run around the tank and they just look like mini mice. So this is about the time I can remove them right? I wanna get them outta there before mamma blows she is getting pretty big.

They sound like they can be weaned, how many babies do you have?? They can stay in with her if she has more babies but it sounds like they are ready to be weaned as long as you see them eating and drinking they can be weaned.

I have a mouse that is also about to drop anyday but her last litter I took most of the pinks away for my hatchlings and only left her 4 so may leave them in this time.

Mini mice is the thing to look for. When their ears stand up they start to look more like adults. That is when you can wean them.

Here is another question,
I have 2 females together and the first female dropped 12 babies well here my other female took 2 of the babies to her corner and is feeding them(she looks like she may drop in about a week) and then the mother kept the other 10. Is this normal? They also switch up sometimes the mother will just feed the other 2 and the nanny will feed the 10. They switch it up. Kinda cool.

Yea I am just curious as to what will happen when the other one drops her litter?
Whatever happened when the other one dropped her litter?
I had 2 females together and the second one dropped her 14 litter well I decided to take the first one out with her 8 -2 week old lil ones as they were all over top of the second litter. Not sure what happened I thought they were both bred on the same day. DO you usually leave them all together when the litters are of different age? Normally I have them bred on the same day then remove the male

The best way to do it is to set up a colony and never change it. Don't take the male out and never change the females around. Very often once separated, you won't be able to put them back together again without them fighting.

It is common for everyone in the colony to help with raising the babies including the dad. They may pile them all up together or put them in several smaller piles. Don't worry about it, they will get around to everyone and feed everyone.

If I get a litter of pinkies in a colony where I already have a lot of larger babies, I may harvest the pinkies because they are likely to be smothered by their cousins. If I get too many at once in one group I may harvest some of them just to take pressure off the females. I have enough snakes that I need mice of all sizes. I understand that not everyone has that option. If you don’t, make sure your cages are big enough to handle the male, all the females, and 15 near weanling size babies from each female. The day will come when you will have that many at once.

grow babies grow

Wade I need that day to come lol. I am selling excess to pet stores one particular I culled for my month supply of pinks and they are waiting patiently. The thing is they want some over hopper size. I see you seem to be the one that gives awesome answers on mice here any miracle growth tips lol. Also I have been searching to figure out if a female that has never had babies but is possibly preg can nurse? One of my colonies with 4 all seem to be nursing the babies, One should have dropped two days ago I am hoping that they wont cull the smaller litter as I really need to get some to the store.
btw I feed martin rat/mouse, pig developer and rodent chunks. Any recomended foods on the board Im still unable to find.

I don't know at what point a pregnant female begins to produce milk. I do know that everyone in the colony will help with the babies and lay on them to keep them warm etc. They are not all necessarily nurseing.

The best thing I have found to produce babies is patience. I seems like it takes forever to get a colony started but once they start they will produce on a regular basis.
