Website for Charcoal?

Hey! I was just wondering if anyone had a website to get hatchlings. I would really prefer a Charcoal. I found South Mountain Reptiles has them, but wanted another opinion. If there is no respectable website to go to, I'll just pick one at petco. Thanks!

You can watch the threads here, you will see a wide variety of morphs for sale here.
SMR is a respected breeder & you would not go wrong getting snakes from there.

Like Heather said, I would highly recommend SMR. He is great to deal with and you will not be disappointed with what you get. Personally, I have 7 snakes from Don at SMR ;)

I just looked farther into it due to the great help :) Shipping would be $35 on a $35 Charcoal. Seeing that I expected $5-10 for shipping, I don't know if it is worth it to get the morph that I want... I would be paying $70 as opposed to $40 at petco where even though I would not know gender or hatch date, I would have a choice from 3 or 4 snakes...

To make shipping worth it, you order more than one snake! That's my excuse, at least.

And to be honest, $35 shipping is worth it. You will be able to know you have a quality animal that came from a trusted, reputable breeder. And you will know that it is an established eater and healthy. Don also has a great guarantee on all of the snakes he sells.

Just a few things to think about...

$35 on shipping is actually pretty good. I've paid up to about $75 in shipping.
They ship overnight, for next day delivery, for the safety of the snake.

It is completly up to you. I see nothing wrong with getting a snake from a pet store, as long as they are in good health & well taken care of.
None of mine are from pet stores, & I doubt I'll buy one from a pet store, unless they happen to have an outstanding morph.

I'm extremely happy with the breeders on here that I have dealt with so far.

Remember, you get what you pay for. I have a Petco snake and have had no problems. Others can tell you horror stories about mites, non eating, etc. $35 for shipping is dirt cheap and a good price.

After buying the kit, this whole discussion here http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102050&highlight=gallon+long I'm wondering, could i cohabitate two or three snakes? At the pet stores it says that you can but i have heard otherwise. The only reason I ask is because I won't have enough money to buy multiple tanks/kits :(

Please run a search on cohabitation and read all the horror stories. You'll hear some people still saying that cohabbing is okay, but it happens every year...one of those people suddenly have a problem and are back here wishing they had listened to the majority of members who keep saying "DO NOT COHABITATE!"

I personally recommend that you know the signs of a healthy snake and examine it for a long time (half an hour at least), know how to tell young charcoals to type A aneries, and pick a corn out from a local pet shop. Yes, breeders can tell you the hets and such of the snakes, plus there's lower prices and perhaps other bonuses, but how can you be sure the snake has a temperament you like? I would HATE to buy a beautiful snake only to have it be aggressive and evil and never grow out of it, especially if I wanted just a pet or to breed a docile trait into babies.

Just my opinion. Make sure you examine any baby you check out for half an hour or so, and also try to get a corn bigger than a hatchling (at least 2 months of age) so you don't get it and have it die a day after the warranty expires.

Ok! Thanks for the advice, everybody. In about an hour I will be leaving for a two week trip. When I get back, I will be buying my first Corn Snake! :dancer: It will probably be from a pet store though...
