How do you weigh your snake? Any recommended apparatus? I use the database program and snake measurer someone on this site recommended but I have no idea of how or what to get to measure my Corn :shrugs: . I tried the search feature but didn't find anything.
Thanks

a kitchen scale with Grams and lbs settings from your local grocery store will work.

A kitchen scale, preferably digital (easier to read). Depending on the size of your snake: for hatchlings, weigh a deli cup, then weigh the deli cup with the snake inside; subtract the weight of the deli cup to get the weight of the snake. For a larger snake, weigh a pillow case, weigh the snake inside the pillow case; subtract the weight of the pillow case to get the weight of the snake.

Or most digital scales these days have a "tare" button which means you put for e.g your deli cup on the scales empty and then press tare and this will reset the reading to 0.0g ...
Then put your snake in the cup and you have an exact reading...
It basically stops you having to do the math by taking the weight of the cup away for you..

And if they don't have that button, put the cup on and hit the on button again...that should work as well.

Thank you so much for the great advice  , I went and bought a small kitchen scale and weighed Annie last night: 15 grams (I did not get a digital scale) (yet) and 38.1 cm. I have an estimated birth date of Sep. 17th, does that sound about right/normal? :shrugs:

I just got my first scale as well! It's exciting to be able to measure your snake's growth more precisely than by just looking. Something I've noticed, I've started feeding my snakes a bit more in anticipation of weighing them again!

Not sure if they are still available, but I got a USB Digital scale from Radio Shack for $9 on clearance. Not bad if you dont mind it being wired to the computer. it's accurate to 1g. I'd bought a cheap digital scale off ebay but the piece of crap only measures in 5g increments.
