Weight Question

I'm hoping I'm in the right place, as it could also go in the breeding section.

My Amel female layed eggs on June 10th.

Weighed her on July 7th, and she was 210grams.

Weighed her again today, July 22nd, and she weighed 316!!!

I put a male in with her, after she layed her first clutch. Is this normal weight gain, for a well-fed girl, or is she gravid again??

she weighed 210grams just before she layed her eggs, thats quite light i think
hmmm im not the best person to be answering this but i think theres a possibility she may lay a second clutch, as shes now 316grams, now thats a healthy weight to be laying eggs at.
i personally would not have put the male back in with her. unless you want her to be gravid again. but not soo soon after her first lot.
they can pretty much breed anytime of the year and you've got to give the girlie some time to get her health and weight back on track after shes finished laying.
sorry i cant be more of help
anybody else with opinions on this?
;)

I agree with Missy, the females put a lot of effort into making the eggs and you should only attempt a 2nd clutch if she has substantial weight on her after laying. Sometimes they do it themselves but it is a big effort for their boddies. I'd suggest giving her next year off unless she gets back up to 350g or so. You want to ensure you don't 'drain her' year after year.

I have a female who doubled without a 2nd introduction and she got down to a frightening 162g after the 2nd clutch...they pull out of it fine most of the time but it is a big job.
