Weird darkness on tail (pic)

I just had my pretty little lav blood from Serpenco out, and I noticed a problem with his tail. What's the deal? It almost looks like the end of his tail is dead... What have I allowed to happen to my snake? :(

Well, it looks like a tiny fragment of the shed remained attached to the tip of his tail. On two or three successive occasions. Such that the posterior most short section of the tip of his tail has lost blood flow, died, and will soon drop off. Not an unheard of situation. Won't interfere with a happy healthy life.
Always examine him carefully after a shed, while he's so small and difficult to inspect, to make sure every last shred of shed is free and detached.
Nice moist hides in which to pass the pre-shed period will usually prevent these or similar situations.

Yes that is what appears to be necrotic tissue from stuck shed you accidently missed. You can try to soak him and let him slide through a wet wash cloth or towel to see if it comes off, but more than likely he will lose the tip of his tail which is why it is so important to inspect them and their sheds well.

Sigh. I really should have known. He has been a little more of a tough sell on shedding than the other 2 snakes. Negligent owner strikes again.:headbang:

Don't worry, I imagine it happens alot more than we think...and you'll be the only one who notices...It happened to one of mine and YES, now when I see a shed I look at it first and then always looks at the snake as well anyway...if there is any left, I get that tip just a little wet and lightly scratch it off with a fingernail, works everytime...

Don't beat yourself up it happens your not a negligent owner- you did actually notice right. When you see this one go into blue again mist the cage lightly twice a day to up the humidity. Some seem to shed just fine even when it is a little dry, but others don't so you now know this one is a little more sensitive. Just be proactive with the misting and always look both the shed and snake over well after a shed to avoid this.
