hypo lav het amel X lav het amel = an opal het. hypo, unless mom is also het hypo, then possibly a hypo opal...Very pretty, and very nice coloration for an opal...

I'm also assuming this isn't a trick question ;)

nope, not a trick question.
last year was 1st clutch with opals. I have not seen many of them in person and besides the 2 adult males I picked up this year, I've never seen an adult.
He just keeps getting brighter and brighter every time he sheds. So I just wanted to know with that pattern and color, if he was a reg. opal.

Over the past few years several people have commented on how male lavenders and lavender combo's seem to be more "colorful" than the females they've produced. You can always test breed it to a known hypo female to see if maybe it is a hypo opal, but odds are it's an opal; a very pretty opal :*)

To answer your question as direct as I can... Yes it is an regular opal..

That's the kind of snake that makes me want to get a lavende to add to my small collection...

Great colors on that guy!
