Hi,

I got these 17 babies from a mother amel and a father butter motley. From the 17 babies, all are amel except these two... I thought they will develop their orange or red like color later in their life... but they are almost 7 months old now....

1. The parents

2. Baby 1. Their belly are checkered just like the mother... Father got all-white belly...

I read somewhere that amel x butter = 100% amel. But I know, this is not amel...

They both appear to be Amels to me. They have the red eyes, which Caramels do not have. Since they are het Caramel, it could be influencing the amount of yellow that's showing.

Those are lovely amels het caramel (butter) that show the fact they are het caramel in their coloration, i.e. they have more yellow which makes their overall coloration more orange than red.

As those two ARE indeed Amels, could it be that the rest of the clutch (the ones believed to be Amels) are actually Butters?
Do you have pictures of the other babies?

Marinelli has a good point. Hatchlings often bear little resemblance to what they'll look like as adults. Do you have pictures of the other babies?

Your amel babies are pretty, by the way.

I have sold many of the babies and have 4 left including these two... Don't have recent photo of them... but here is an old photo..

From what I saw, (photo from buyers), they develop dark red color. Just like the other 2 I'm keeping. Dark red.

Anyway, I'm happy to keep these strange looking amels... they are beautiful, the second one is more white from the first.

Yes, that baby's an amel. Apparently you were blessed with a clutch that shows a great bit of that natural variation even within a morph, even within a line, even with the same parents that makes keeping and breeding corns such fun!

I love them... unfortunately, the first one belong to my friend ( owner of the father, the butter motley)
