What do you think: Is this young corn snake Anery Motley or Pastel Motley? Or even something else?
I have no idea what his parents are, his seller doesn't know either

Okay, thank you all for answering :)
It was just that couple people were certain that he's a pastel motley, so I wanted more opinions :)

I still think that he's pastel motley. He looks like my own pastel motleystriped and he's more pinkish that grey-brown.

The problem with using the term "pastel" is that not every breeder uses it the same. Most breeders use the term to describe a very colorful ghost motley. However, there are a few people that use the term for any anery-based morph that is very colorful, hence the confusion. I will occasionally use the term "pastel", but make sure that it is obvious if the snake is homozygous hypo or not by saying "pastel ghost motley" or "pastel anery motley".

And yes, there are some dark ghosts that could easily pass for anerys and some light anerys that could pass for ghosts, but the addition of the motley gene usually lightens the snake coloration even more. I have seen many anery-based darken as they get older, especially past 4-5 years of age, but there is usually a distinct difference in hatchlings and subadults that contain or lack the hypo gene.

The only way to be 100% certain if your snake(s) are ghost motleys or anery motleys is through breeding trials, but I'll put money on the OP's snake as being an anery motley, and catitus, if your pastel motley is the one in your avatar, I say the same...anery motley.
