What do I do with my snake???

Bloodred Dad!

I have a different kind of question for everyone:

I live on the lake in Texas and that creates a problem from time to time with bugs. Insects thrive out here because of the humidity and the moisture in the air. Long story short, I am going to bomb my house with bug foggers. What should I do with Sampson during this process?

Sampson lives in my closet. I'm able to shut the closet doors, but the cracks of air make it a possibility for him to ingest something in the air. We're able to cover our saltwater fish with a few towels but a snake is much different (obviously. lol.) Can I do the same with him? Should I put a stack of towels with a wet towel on top to absorb the poison?

Why not just put him outside? Currently, it's about 105F in the shade and that's pretty hot. Plus, the way his viv is set up, it makes it difficult to move around (he's a permanent fixture in my room and he's not going anywhere! :) )

I thought yall would know much more about this than I do... so please tell me what you think...

Do you have a friend or neighbor willing to look after Sampson until the bug bombing is over with?

What I used to do was put all my animals in one room and put a towel over them and shut the door then bug bomb the rest of the house except for that room. Then do that room after you take the animals out.

For the snakes that are in tanks too big for me to move, I usually put them in rubbermaids and leave them in the garage or something, but if its hot in places like that, maybe you can ask your neighbor to hold onto the rubbermaids for a couple of hours (or a friends house if you dont like your neighbors). Basically, think about how you would transport your corn over a long distance and keep them in that in a cooler place.

That sounds easy and worry-free. I'll probably do that. The closet is "bug-free" for the most part and he's pretty much the only thing in there except for a few hanging clothes. Since I can see all of the floor, I assume I can just skip that room and do everything else. That's a good idea. I just wanted to make sure that a towel would sufice.

If I need to get him away for a few hours, that's definitely do-able. I would have to use a friend as my neighbors are mostly elderly and would freak out if they had to watch after him. :) Good thought, makes perfect sense.
On the same note, how long would he be comfortable in a rubbermaid? I would really like to take him to see my young sisters a few hrs away but I haven't quite known how to get him there. I've worried if it would be too stressful or an ordeal for him. What do you think?

Thank you for your input. I really appreciate it!!!

What I have done for my fish room is put some painters tape along the seam of the doorway when the door is closed, and also roll up a towel and place it at the bottom of the door. My house is old and the doors warp during the summer, so this was just an extra precaution.

Good luck!
