Im gonna build cages for my corns. It will be something like this:
March132006063.jpg

Every of them cages will be 80cm/40cm/25cm
and...what do you think about it? I think it can be good...

They look really nice just make sure they are escape proof and you can heat and clean them well. :)

How are the snakes supposed to climb and get excersize in a racking system where there is hardly any depth ?

I have always wondered this :shrugs:

Floor space is more important to corns than climing space.
So long as they come out for handling and such I'd imagine it would be okay.

But breeders use these for a number of species of snake dont they?..in the pic they are BP's.. surley they need to climb..

Just seems like quite a small space to provide for an adult snake of any kind..

Those look like boas to me but it's kind of hard to tell from that distance.
I agree with you in that I would personally like to provide more space... 80cm long is less than 3 foot. But some people would say that is large enough. Maybe it depends on how big the snake gets?

True. I knew I would get the species wrong !! well they look simular to BP's (dont they !!!! :shrugs: )

cheers hon :p

I believe those are Red Tail Boas. I think those cages are bigger than the dimensions in Bartas' post. I think he meant that was the size he was going to make it for his snakes. Surely for those Red Tails they are larger. They look larger at least because the snakes look like a good size.

Compare the cages to the tubs next to them. :shrugs: They look like young boas to me, but again, it's hard to tell.

I dont know what size have cages on image, thats why i said my own size for this cages. I think the 80/40/25cm would be good for old corn.
Any suggestions to other size? In centimetres please :)

P.S. Sorry for my english :(, I know, its very bad :(

I would personally feel happy enclosing an adult corn snake in a cage about 91x60x60 cm. I'm not saying that's what you should do, that's just what I would do :)

The height is too big. I think the 25 or 30cm is enough hi. You know, rack cages are short. If i will build cages with 60cm heigh it won't be economic...you know :)

I would imagine 30cm would be all right. Like I said, 60cm was just my preference.
However I do feel that I should point out, please remember that your animals' needs come before what is economical. They are the ones who have to live in these cages, not you. I'm not being rude, just thinking of your animals. :)
Whatever size you build, good luck. Let us know how it goes.
