what is a ghost?

i know, im totally full of newbie questions :) i have an anery female available for breeding and im going to pair her with Tiko when she is big enough (gonna be 2008, she is the same age as Sem but for some reason is a tad smaller than her and i'm not gonna risk her).
anyway, she is het hypo (according to the gal i bought her off of). does that mean that out of Tiko and her i will get all anery het stripe and hypo?
then with some of her offspring i can make hypo anery... is that ghost?

hey thanks! i guess i'm beginning to "get" the simple genetics. haha, i haven't even thought about touching on diffused and getting lavs, bloods, phantoms... etc. i think my life is going to get very complicated in the next 5 to 10 years.... :)

Not quite. If you have a snow stripe male and an anery het hypo female, your results will be:

100% anery het stripe and amel, 50% of whom could be het hypo.

No individual hatchling is guaranteed to be het for hypo if mom's only het - she's got a 50% chance of NOT passing on her hypo gene.

And breeding the offspring together, you'd have a good chance of producing snows and snow stripes in addition to your anery and anery stripe - and the possible ghost/ghost stripes or coral snow/coral snow stripes if you picked the right 'keepers' that just happened to be het for Hypo.

maybe i should re-read the part about punnett's squares in my old high school bio book eh? i am planning on keeping at least 2 of the offspring, and i'm hoping that by chance i pick the "right" 2... but in case i don't i'm sure the friend that wants one of the anery babies will lend it back to me when the time is right. if i guess wrong again.... then i'm off to buy a couple more snakes :grin01:
how come no one told me how addictive corns are before i started?? actually come to think of it, i'm glad no one did :)
