This is woods, sold to me as a caramel. But following the arrival of his 1st clutch of eggs I am sure he is not.

can anyone tell me exactly what he is? I presume rat snake but what sort?

If anyone needs different shots to identify him just ask and I will use my limited photography skills to try to get them.

Has a lot of saddling, moreso than most adult yellow rat snakes...Definitely a rat snake ;)...definitely NOT a caramel corn...

It has been suggested that he may be a Deckerts rat snake. Images on the net look similar.

Anyone got one? or have an opinion.

Thanks for your views

Thanks for the links and I agree they look very a similar.

Woods is indeeed a very beatiful boy, he came to my son and me via a rescue from a pet store that was going out of business. Those who rescued him were told that apart from the boa's all the other were corns. He is obviously not fully corn.

If you have not done so thenplease have a look at the pictures of his off spring with my sons corn. They look anery on the pictures but in person they have a subtle red/lavender to the skin. I posted some pictures of them earlier.

Thanks for your interest
