Hello all! I got my very first corn snake this past October & couldn't be more in love with him! He is adorable and a great little eater. I'm just curious as to what he would be classified as... I never knew that there were so many colors of corn snakes! Blizzard, Oketee, amel, caramel etc etc.... My little Malakai has a grayish background with spots of Red-orange on him. Hopefully the picture I add on here works so you all can see him and maybe tell me what the proper term for his coloring is.

Here's another one of him helping me write this post... he wants to know what he is too!

You can also see him really well in my avatar, he's so flippin' cute!

Thanks in advance for your advice
:)

Welcome to the forums! To my eye he looks like a nice little Miami/Miami phase.
Miami is a variant of a normal corn, just line bred to have a cleaner gray/silver background vs. the normal brownish/orangish background on regular normals. Similar to how Okeetees are a normal corn that is line bred for the thicker borders and more vibrant colors.

Miami's are one of my favorite morphs...

Here are a few pics of mine for comparison:

Both of them were bred by Carol Huddleston who produces some of the nicest Miamis around.

I also have this girl - Clementine who is a Miami phase. Her color isn't quite gray/silver enough to be a Miami, but she isn't quite as brown/orange as a regular normal:

Only time will tell as he gets bigger as to how he fits with the Miami theme or if he is just a beautifully colored normal.

Thanks!

Awesome! I hope he turns out to be a Miami because your snakes are gorgeous! I know that his color will change as he gets older, but I was a bit worried that he would get more and more orange as he grew and I would lose that cool silvery background he has. I also love his belly, even though you can't see it in the pics, it's a dark and light checkerboard style.

It can be hard to tell how they will change as they grow - some of them look very much like Miamis when they are that young and as they grow they look more like normals. But some retain that wonderful gray background...

I love hime I want one? Know anyone?
I picked up Clementine at a reptile show. She isn't a great example of a Miami but I love her dearly.
In my humble opinion - Carol Huddleston at LowBelly Reptiles produces the most beautiful Miami's around. Both Casey and Dinah (the other two posted above) are from her. She is a member here. When breeding season starts she usually posts waiting lists for her clutches. If you want a gorgeous Miami - try to get on one of her waiting lists.

anyone know what my snake is? i just got it and i think the guy from petco said it was a snow, that's a type of albino right? his pic is my avitar.

Scattered- you would do better to make your own topic as well as post the actual picture.
But so far I see a red snake which could never be a snow.

Hello and Welcome Aimee!

In my humble opinion, he's what I call the great "Adorable" morph..... :D Really, I love his color! All kidding aside, it's completely impossible to tell, however if I were to venture a guess based upon what he looks like right now I'd have to agree with AA - Miami-esque :D

It's really half the fun of these guys, they change SO much and you just never know how they'll turn out. I love looking back at my progression pictures!

One of my most favorite girls I got from a petstore. She looked like a standard Anery but I fell in LOVE with her personality. Curious and very sweet natured. After her first year she darkened up a LOT, when I bred her last year she wound up being het for Amel, Hypo AND Motley! That was a fun clutch to watch hatch, for sure!

Congrats Aimee... he's a cutie!
