For some reason these are one of my favorite house spiders (I think its a house spider:shrugs:) I really like them. We were headed for a walk & spotted this little guy hawling something across the driveway, not sure where to. What is it? Eggs, food?? It sure was weighin' him down..lol
Anyone know what type of spider? I live in S. Cali
Thanks,

ive always called those guys daddy long legs. lol

not sure how true this is, but they are supposed to be one of the most venomous spiders, just there fangs aren't big enough to actually bite us.

thats true.. now that i think about it.. daddy long legs dont have the big butts.. haha i really dont know much about spiders.

Daddy long legs, aren't actually a spider either ... just like hyenas aren't canines ...

uuuah. spiders. ): i would have to relocate that little guy ... or ... have someone take care of it.

Hey, do you remember what they actually are? I told my roommate the same thing but he didn't believe me because I couldn't remember what they were if not a spider.

and please no squishy :( it makes me sad when people squash poor little bugs like that. I do so love my creepy crawlies.

I actually can't remember, but I remember my younger cousin correcting me on the subject. :( Sorry, I wish I could remember - daddy long legs don't necessarily bother me, but wolf spiders and brown recluses do.

:) I don't mind tarantulas though, or scorpions.

I'm gonna vote that it's some sort of prey item.....the egg sac for this species is usually pretty sphere shaped. It's hard to tell from the pic so I could be wrong. cool spider.

Yah, we have those spiders in the house and their egg sacks are smaller and round. I call them cellar spiders and always squish them when I can, I don't like them at all.

Here are a few I took today in my house. They like the corners & blend in well. LOL I like them around cause they keep the little pest away. So these guys don't get squished. :D

Awwwwe that spider's actually kind of neat, considering I don't like the 'spindly-legged' spiders, as I like to call them. :p My favorite spiders are jumping spiders, because they have such great binocular vision and can look at you and follow you with their eyes. I like the 'fat spiders', hehe.
But for daddy longlegs/harvestmen, I make an exception. :D

Awww! Those little guys are my favorites too! they are soo cute with their big eyes, and the way they look around. :)

If you look closely at what it's carrying (dragging), there appears to be a stinger at the rear of the object, leading my to believe it's a prey item. I thought most spiders laid egg sacs in a safe place and left them there.

Some of those pictures are of the common cobweb spider:pholcus phalangioides The jumping spider that's in the other photo is also one of my favorite species. There's an excellent website on bugs that has just about every type you can think of. You do have to go thru photos, but it's fun to do it. www.whatsthatbug.com
