She is an amel. Congratz on your first snake but I hope that tank is not her permenante home as it is way to small for her.

That is indeed an Amel and that will be a huge cage I'm sure he/she will love it!
I'm just curious though what you're doing about heat and feedings in the meanwhile though?

no it is not permanent i am making a huge home for her it will be 7 feet long bye 5 feet and and 3 feet deep

To be honest if people think about it the glass tank she is in now probably doesn't give her any less space than that in many collectors or breeder's racks. I would say it is slightly cramped, but not obscenely so.

Secondly how big a tank!!!!! Really a 7ft long tank, by 5ft by 3 is really far too big. It's good to give them room to explore if you want but it'll cost a fortune, you would have to make it yourself and then pay a of money to heat it too-just for 1 corn snake? A tank that long is large enough for a burmese python! Maybe 3 1/2-4ft by 2ft would be better and still be perfectly spacious for a corn.

Sorry, but that looks like it's about half the size of the tubs in my rack. Following the length+width=length of snake rule, it looks pretty darn cramped to me. I also don't think a 7X5 viv would be too much. If you have the space and skills to build it, why not? :shrugs:

i am pretty much finished making the home and so far it didn't cost me a cent. i used left over wood that i found at my house the only thing i need to by is the glass for the front and back.
