What Kind of Kingsnake is It?

Hello all. I don't normally buy from pet stores but I'm in love with a kingsnake that they have. I've never seen one like it and I held him/her the other day and the snake appears in good health. They just got it in that day.

Anyway I've googled and googled but can't find a picture of a kingsnake that looks like this one. I think it may be some sort of stripe. It is black and bright green. It has a wide solid black stripe down it's back and it's head is black. It's sides are solid green and it has green markings on it's head and face. Cute little green zig zags under it's eyes.

I've seen green and black speckled kings and desert kings. But this snake doesn't have any speckles or breaking up of color. All the colors are solid. Wish I had taken a picture of him/her.

Any ideas?

positive it's a king and not a garter snake?
I know quite a few kings, and I have yet to come across a green one, not with the pattern you mention

No it's not a garter. I know what garters look like since they are local. I have a cali kingsnake and this ones looks like him in the face and body. But the color is strange. It looks like a striped version of a speckled or desert king only without the speckles.

A pic would definitely help here. I have a jungle corn that is a yellow/green color (which never shows true in pics) with an almost tessera pattern perhaps what you have is a sort of jungle too, favoring the king snake side? I seen a breeder at the last show had some jungles that were banded but had similar coloring.

I did not take a picture because it was in the pet shop and I don't normally carry a camera around with me when I go shopping.

Anyway, I did buy the snake today. It was labeled as a Cali kingsnake. I suppose that it is a striped version. Though I had no idea that they could get such a green hue to them. I've only seen black, white, and yellow on the Cali kingsnake.

The snake is at my boyfriend's house at the moment until I get a cage, heating mat and all that jazz. Plus I need to make some room for him. On Monday I will take a picture. But for right now this is the only picture that I could find that looked sort of like him. Just imagine this snake with the green going higher up the sides and without the yellow stripe and spots down it's back.

I can't wait to see pics of him! I love my Cali, Choco. Choco is named after mint chocolate chip ice cream. She is yellow and brown, (Coastal) but in the right light, the yellow is minty green. Some days.

sounds like a striped banana cal king to me

Looks to me you have Stripped Banana Cali with Side Walls.

Cali Kings Rule.

Remember one thing after you touch your Corns wash your hands because your Cali will go into hunting mode and might bite you. OK - let me say that I only have one California king that does that but it is a good idea to wash your hands.

Love the Fatman

Well like a dummy I forgot my camera Monday and had to take a picture with my cell phone. Crappy quality but gives you an idea of what the snake looks like. He is an aggressive one. Has bitten me 3 times so far, musks a lot, and rattles his tail constantly. From his size I guess about a year old. He has really pretty silver eyes (black pupils).
