What Kind of Milk Snake am I?

CornCrazy

What's one more???
This little one was given to me. I am not up on milk snakes so I was hoping someone could tell me what it is.

It also looks like it could be a Sinaloan Milk Snake (L.T. Sinaloae.)
Welcome to the taxonomically confusing world of Tri-Colors. :)

Looks like a Pueblan :grin01: as trevor says confusing at best, have fun with it, milks are lively little characters.
:wavey:

Definitely not a Pueblan. I'd also say it's a Sinaloan or a Nelson's, not enough of an expert to say which one. Although I'd lean towards Sinaloan because most Nelson's I've seen have a chunkier look to them, but the snake could be underfed....:shrugs:

Hey, just to add to the confusion (And prove how inexperianced with anything other than basic corn morphs I am), I thought it was a Kingsnake :grin01:

Technically, it is. The reason I think it's a Nelson's is that generally Sinaloans have longer bands of red. What makes this ID even harder is, that Sinaloan and Nelson naturally intergrade where their ranges overlap! :eek1:

black and white rings are too big to be a pueblan......nelson's and sinaloan sound to be the best, but here are some more to confuse you:

Definitely not any of those. Check out Bob Applegate's site for the differences between sinaloan and nelson

Ok, now I am confused...

Are milk snakes a type of Kingsnake then? :shrugs: And to me from those pictures it looks a tad more like a Nelsons...though considering how similar they are I could well be wrong... :sidestep:

i think it would be safe to say that a good rule of thumb to help you is: corn is to rat as milk is to king.

WOW...so many choices! I am going to try to find out what the little one was bought as. Otherwise, I won't know what to call it!

Thanks for all of the input!

It sure is a pretty little thing. Wish I could be of more help, but I'm still new to kings and milks and only know how to ID a handful. None of which come close to that one! lol

Congrats on the new addition!

Jenn
