So I am starting this to see what size tank everyone is going with for their adult snakes...

I spoiled my Ghost (cause he was my 1st :crazy02:) and put him in a 40 Gal. reptile tank. I have my Amel. in a 20 Gal. High, cause it was my only spare tank...I plan on putting her in a 20L eventually. And I think that is what I am going to use for the rest of them as well.

How about everyone else? What do you use??

Well, I got two babies, a common and a Miami......once they're old enough, they'll be going into a 30 gal each.
Cheers :D

I am using a 40 gal breeder tank for sammy he loves it even gave him a bigger water dish so he can even have more room to swim in :) he started off in a 10 gal tank cant imagine him being happy in that but then i like to spoil my pets

I figure you're only interested in colubrids... so...

My living room has a "display viv" which is a 20 gal long. That's where my adult corn, Spencer (who I just found out is 13, by the way) is living. My yearling is around 3 ft, and he's in a plastic tank roughly the size of a 10 gallon. All of my other snakes are in similar small plastic containers.

Now, this is not the ideal situation, because I'm waiting on new housing. It seems to be a waste of money to move them up when I'm (hopefully) receiving my rack very soon. Once my rack arrives, they'll be in 32 quart tubs, which are roughly 6H x 16W x 23L.

My corn yearling is in a 30g tall...my balls are lucky ones though. One is in a 75 gallon and the other is in a 40. My new baby is in a ten for now, but an empty 55 is waiting for her!

I would like to make some racks and use the tubs, but my wife says its ugly and wants all the snakes to have their own tank...So I have a feeling I am going to have to make a bunch or shelving units. Oh well...

My 07's are in 10 gallons, and my 06's are in 20 gallons...their not 20 longs though, just two standard 20 gallons I had from previous fish tanks.....Ill be bumping their tank size up when they get bigger, but for now their alright :)

Well, Connor is in a 40 gallon breeder. Chester is in something roughly equivalent to a 90 gallon. And Willow's still in her baby tub. ;)
I personally feel that a 20 gallon is on the small side for an adult cornsnake. But a lot of it is just personal preference.

Yeah, I would love to keep all my snakes in some thing big and roomy, but when you are breeding the big tanks take up alittle bit of room.

My babies (...that will be here Saturday, can you tell I'm excited :dancer:) are going into about 12"x18" plastic tubs. When I get the display viv's built they will be something like 48"x18"x18", although if I can talk hubby into larger I will Maybe 6' x 18"x24"H of course it maybe something in between. A lot of it is going to depend on where I put them.

My Royal is in a 50 gallon, it's wood and glass display viv. :)

My juvenile Corn is in a plastic 18" * 12" * 6" (L/W/H) tank right now. But when he gets too big for it he's going in his own 50 gallon to last him for life. :)

Of course, large tanks aren't practical when you have a lot of animals. I am kinda big on nice enclosures, though - I don't think it should be forgotten that the tank/tub/etc will be the animal's home for life and more space is always preferrable over less. Keeper's convenience should come second, IMHO.

Like I said, a lot of it is preference and just seeing how your animal does in whatever tank you decide on. I would certainly not go below a 20gallon tank for any adult corn though (or equivalent size thereof if you're using tubs.)

Good luck deciding!

My corn and king are in standard 2ft vivs now but will be moved into larger vivs when we make them. My Royals are in a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft custom made viv.

Our first corn is in a 20L. The 4 we recently got are currently in 12 qt sterilite, but will be moved into 90 qt ones when they're big enough. That works out to 22.5 gallons, but they would never hold that much, what with all the holes I melted into the sides...

Let us know what you decide upon!

Nagini is my spoiled baby.
All 55 gallons of her new home and she's not even 3ft long yet.

My yearling king is in a 20L he hates coming out and exploring anyway so it'll probally be his perm. home.

I didn't really start this thread to help me decide on anything. I was just curious as to what size tank everyone is using for their snakes.

I am really glad that so many are replying cause this will help out newbies if their not sure what to use for their snakes.

Once again, thanks for all the input everyone! :crazy02:

Niblet is in a tank that is approximately 60 gal and is tall.

Maize is currently in her baby tank (5 gal) but will be moved in to a 30 L when she gets a little bigger.

I only plan on having the two snakes, so the show viv's are nice to have in the home.

Ashookie and Skog are in a 55 gal; Smokie is in a 30 gal critter tank (low and long with a screen top) and Queenie is in a 35 gal corner tank. I am going to put her in a 40 gal critter tank which has the same foot print as the 30 but it's higher-she likes to climb on her house. All the others are in 10 gals. Actually, when you walk into my living room you are in the snake room, tanks everywhere.

Some of our adult corns are in vivs (100 x 50 x 50cm), but eventually I hope to have them all in 71 x 44 x 31cm boxes. I much prefer plastic tubs to vivs as they can be properly disinfected, and I find them much easier to lift about and move. I like to have height in the boxes as well, as my corns do tend to climb about and really use the space.
