Ok off topic...i know but has to be told. So I ordered 2 books about caring for corn snakes on the 13th of Oct. from walmart.com. they're arriving on Thursday. this morning I looked at my supply for diapers and realized i needed more so i order 2 boxes from amazon.com this morning at about 9:45am. they're arriving tomorrow?!?! how in the hell does that happen?!?!?!?! insert link...

Just depends on who you are buying from and where they are shipping from. If you order something that ships from the same zone you are in and they ship the same day you order it then it's very likely to receive it the next day. Amazon generally doesn't ship the things out themselves. They are kinda like a middle man for smaller vendors. Whomever the order went to after you ordered is obviously very customer service oriented. Walmart.com on the other hand is so large and so non-customer service oriented that if you don't pay the extra money to have it express shipped they pretty much get it to you when they get around to it because you are on the bottom of their priority list.
 
A lot of the Walmart.com orders are shipped straight from the different vendors so some go out fairly quickly but others are shipped from the Walmart warehouses and those seem to take longer for some reason. We used to get in the site to store stuff via FedEx and via the distribution center trucks. There were a lot more orders lost or delayed when coming from the warehouse than from the FedEx shipped vendor stuff in my experience.
