What type of ceramic tile is best?

I would like to experiment with ceramic tile and my UTH so I can get less fluctuation in temperatures while the resident AC dictator has his way in these hot months. The temp is not so much of an emergency, but it would be nice to have a plan B. What type is best? I am assuming unglazed? Slate? What's the best for keeping heat?

What are the different ways you use ceramic tile in your snake's home?

I don't think the heat properties are terribly different so I would go with cheap glazed. Glazed so that bodily fluids are less likely to soak into the tile.

Edit: Slate would definitely work too if you have an inexpensive source!

Cool, thanks! I will check into the slate I think.

I heard somewhere that you should not get the glazed for some reason...I don't remember what that was?

And marble...fancy! I will look into that as well!

There's a possibility that when the tile is heated, it could release chemicals into the air, but I don't really think heating it to 85 degrees would do any harm.

Turns out, I didn't get a choice! I had called the tile place before I left work. Two 8x8 slate tiles were handed to me for free. The lady at the counter has snakes too. I got a grey piece and a brown piece. Both are not treated with anything, she said. I just scrubbed the brown piece and it's now drying in the 100F sunshine. It should be dry in under 10 mins lol
