What wattage?

I just got my first snow corn snake. I have a 100 gallon tank. I want to get a uvb light but i don't know what wattage it should be. Also, should i get a black light for night time?

It's highly recommended to skip lights altogether with corns. They don't need it. It would be better to go with an UTH. You can get them at any pet store. You'll just need a thermostat or rheostat to pair with it, as they can get upwards of 115+ degrees.

100% agree. UTH+thermostat is the heating method I use. Lights aren't necessary as long as the snake's tank is in a room with natural sunlight. UV isn't necessary at all with Corns.

You have a 100 gallon tank? Wow, that is going to be one ~HUGE~ snake environment! Are you planning on landscaping & plants & so on? Pictures please when you get it set up.

I'm wondering if she meant to say, "10 gal"? I mean, 100gal is pretty impressive and may be a bit much for a snake. If it's a baby, you would probably never find it, and then it would probably cost a ton of $$ to regulate the temps.

I agree with Jlindp and Bitsy. Steer clear of the heat lamps. A good UTH and a rheostat or thermostat, would be best.

BTW, Welcome to the forum!

Umm thats a really special kitty you have there medusacoils *smirk*

Welcome to the forum...and of course I agree with everyone here...a UTH is the way to go. I've just installed mine yesterday...although I will still be using a very low wattage day light since we get very little in my son's room.
