What's the difference?

What's the difference between Anery and Ghost? I've seen lots of pictures of both, and don't see much of a difference. I'm missing something obvious, is it just genes,or....? I question because I really want one, I love the colours, and Kathy Love has one (of both)for sale... *crosses fingers*

Anyway, thanks in advance for answering my question!

As you know, an anery is a snake that is expressing a mutant gene that prevents the production of red/orange pigment. A ghost is expressing two mutant genes. Anery is one. The other is hypomelamism, which reduces (but doesn't completely eliminate) the amount of black/brown pigment that is produced.

So an anery's pattern is usually black or brown with dark black belly checkers. A ghost (hypo-anery) is usually gray or rust color, with lighter, bronzed belly checkers. Anerys and ghosts both usually develop a fair amount of yellow pigment, especially on their necks. :)

Wow. Okay. Thanks. (and actually, I didn't know about the mutant gene stuff... I really have a lot to learn here. I know plenty about keeping a healthy herp, but... apparently NOTHING about the genetics and whatnot)

You just haven't seen enough photos! Here are some comparison photos of an adult anery and an adult ghost, plus a mixed clutch of anery and ghost hatchlings.

huge difference there. I guess the only pics I'd seen were of hatchlings, and not next to eachother, but that definitely clears that up. Thanks a lot!
