Hi just thought someone could tell me a good time to use fussies instead of the pinkys. My snow corn is now 18 inches long and about 7/16 inches wide. I read that the food item can be as large as 1 1/2 times the size of the snake . But I thought I could get better info from one of you .I bought a fuzzie and it looks quite large.Didnt feed it to her yet. Thanks

0.1.0 Snow corn (Cream)
0.1.0 Okeetee corn (Tangerine)
0.0.? aole lizard ( Liz )

An 18 inch corn can handle fuzzies fine. I usually increase the food item size to the next one once my snakes are eating 3 or 4 of the current food items at one feeding. Hope this helps.

Peter, You were so right. I gave her the fuzzie and she had no problom with it. Here is a side note that I forgot to mention, My snow corn eats dead only . She dosnt even constrict the food item before she eats it. Just grabs the head and swallows. Since I'm new to this I thought that was unusual.
thanks again Peter

Eating dead is good ... and, as far as most poeple are concerned, better that eating live.

When your snake will happily eat a fuzzy - wihtout looking fat, without regurgitating and as long as it's not a lot larger than its body, then it's fine.

Suzy is still on pinkies, but only as I have a lot to get rid of ... gimme a week or so an he'll be eating fuzzies too

Yum yum yum

my snow corn is about a foot, how many pinkies should i feed it?

if i give it more than one, do i just give her another after she has swallowed the first one?

also, she eats every five days, could i give her 2 every 5 days or should i wait and do 2 every week?

thanks.

That 1.5 size of the snake's girth rule is a good piece of advise that I hear a lot on this forum. If you stick to it, you should be fine.

Not constricting a dead food item is perfectly normal because the snake has probably gotten used to the mouse not fighting back as it would in the wild. They can also see that it's not moving. If you want to see your snake constricting, warming up the mouse and wiggling it front of the snake with tongs usually works.

I'd feed him one or two pinkies. If he eating one quickly, and the bulge quickly disappears, then try feeding two. It makes little difference if you give him two in one go ... or one twice a week.

(If you fed him one every 4 or 5 days it would be somewhere inbetween)

So long as he eats them, they are not 1.5 times his body size, and he doesn't regurgitate it should be fine.

I wouldn't feed more than two at the moment as overfeeding can harm your snake!

if you got alot of pinkie to get through ,buy another crn m8 lol

Don't tempt me - I've managed to keep myself from buying another corn so far, but every visit to the pet shop, and every photo on this forum, makes me weaker

i rember saying to pipatic i would only keep one corn but now i have 10 and getting more lol

The difference is that I know I'll get more snakes, it's just a question of time ...

I'll probably wait until Suzy is full size (ish) and get an adult.

In the meantime I must resist ... :D
