I know this has topic been discussed in thread form, but I thought we'd get a larger sample of results in the form of the poll above.

When feeding your corn, which of the following is most true:
(A) feed in a separate container to avoid substrate ingestion
--loose substrate, such as wood chips, can be swallowed

(B) feed in a separate container to avoid "aggressive" viv behavior
--some believe that snakes will strike at your hand during non-feeding times.

(C) feed in the viv...my snake is not aggressive towards me
--my snake(s) eats in the tank, but remain friendly during non feeding times...and substrate ingestion is not possible in my viv.

(D) feed in the viv...but my snake has become aggressive towards me
--my snake has apparently becomed conditioned to strike at me during non-feeding times.

(E) other

answer in the poll above and/or add comments via a reply to the post.

I feed mine in thier bins, there is just no time to separate them all. I also use papertowels so I don't worry about ingestion. I have been feeding my corns in thier enclosures for a couple of years now, and it does not make them more aggressive UNLESS they can smell mice. On a non feeding day I can reach into any of my tubs and not worry a bit, of course there is the occasional "always nasty" one or I'll catch one off gaurd, but they did that before I fed in enclosures. On normal day to day business they are fine. HOWEVER, when they smell mice in the room they go to the edge of thier bins and just wait to jump at anything as soon as that bin is pulled open. If you have just a few, I can't imagine it would be a problem. The first "row" on my rack is usually pretty tame since the mouse is already in thier cage by the time they realize what is going on. With every following row, they get more and more fiesty since they have more time to identify the smell and anticipate. By the time I get to the bottom row they are pretty much leaping out of the cage when I open it. My husband laughs at me when I throw mice to them. Some actually will catch thier food in mid air. And boy you don't want to see them when I skip a week!

I voted that I feed in the viv with no aggressive behavior, but last time I fed, I opened one end of the box the mouse came in, put box with mouse in viv and let Ren go at it!:eatsmiley

I opted for other since I do feed in the cage but in a different way then others. While he's out playin around the house I put his food in his cage (not on his bedding but on a flat rock kind of surface). Then I just put him back in and he finds it on his own. He always checks his feeding spot first before heading for his hides. Also, I never touch his food as to not get my scent on them. I definitely like this method (not that I have experience with others) because you don't have to worry about the transfer after feed, he knows that by coming out for a bit he might be rewarded, and he doesn't associate my hand with the food. He must just think it magically appears.:p

Feeding Poll

I do feed Mayzee in the viv but provide a huge tablecloth (Paper Towel) to ensure she doesn't swallow the woodchips.
She eats day old chicks, it is amazing to watch....

I feed in a seperate container, but that being said, I am feeding my Aztec on paper in her viv. She wouldn't eat in a seperate container and when she finally did, she regurged from stress two days later. I find she does better if I feed her in her viv and then cover it with a towel to keep out outside light and motion while she digests. My amel eats while still on your hand. Probably would eat on a freeway during rush hour for that matter. She's definitely not shy! I definitely won't feed on substrate in the viv though.

My snake Yoshi has a seat between my two boys at the dinner table. We're still working on his table manners and he doesn't join in conversation much with the rest of the family, but hey, at least he isn't talking with his mouth full!

Actually, we have a separate container. He knows the routine and has become less shy with me and the boys' big bug eyes staring at him while he eats. :D

I chose "Other" - I feed mine in separate containers because I keep them in pairs and trios. I'd never feed them together because of the risk of accidental cannibalism.

Also, it gets all of the snakes out of the vivs at the same time, giving me the chance to have a clean up while they eat and minimise disturbance to them.

I feed in the viv, but on a paper towel so they do not ingest the woodchips. It works good but they need to be closely watched to make sure they don't pull it off the towels.

Mines quite stupid =|
I put the fuzzie on the paper towel.. So he dosn't get woodchippings.. But then he snaps it.. and wel. suppose i could say. Aquirms of very fast up onto the glass ledge thin.. =| Silly snake!
