Found this guy trying to cross the road today when I went out to a local lake to check on high waters

Had the flat head going on and everything I moved it off the road and then he decided to half a$$ed strike at me I think more of a warning

Looks like a Prairie King...Lampropeltis calligaster...but I could be wrong. You're in the right area for them, though...

which lake were you at? I'm near red rock and I've never seen one of those, only bull snakes and garters.
