So I am again looking for a new snake and have a dilemma.

There are just too many good looking snakes!

I am torn between the following:

A. Bredl Python

B. Irian Jaya Carpet Python

C. Red Tail Boa (Col/Braz)

D. Hypo Ball Python

E. Banana King Snake

F. Other ________________

Any Suggestions?

I am not planning to breed this unless i get another corn.

Please include pics if you have recommendations or advise.

I posted them in the order i am interested.

What are you looking for in a snake? They all have their own different perks.

If size weren't an issue, I'd get the Bredli.

I'm partial to colubrids, so I'd go with "E" (banana king) or "F" (other). But looking at what you've got in your sig line, I'd say that you definitely need more corns. :)

I would go with a smaller snake and since you have room mates, I would stay away from the larger ones. They take up a lot of room and require a large space for a cage. I also have personal issues keeping large snakes and room mates. Lets just say we will never go down that road. :realhot:
A great snake to look for is a MBK (mexican black king). they are small and very pretty.

Are you willing to pay thousands of dollars to a ghost royal?! LOL I'm not. I wouldn't recommend centrilians either, they are big snakes and need specialist care. Are they not very pricey in the US too?

I would say "other", and suggest a whole bunch of lavender corns! If you don't want more corns why not get a king? Personally I adore axanthic brooksi!

I'd go for the Banana King. My Cali King, Choco, is the smartest, sweetest, most interactive snake of my collection. I'd say probably of all snakes in the universe! And the Banana color is so gorgeous...

Well, i looked at a childrens python last night, and red tailed columbians.

Childrens only get 2-2.5 feet sometimes 3 feet.

Irian Jaya Carpet Pythons get about 5-5.5 feet and are hard to find around here as i don't like to ship snakes.

Bredl's are also hard to find but the best looking of the bunch.

I have seen very few ball pythons i really like.

All in all i have narrowed it down to a Childreni Python a Red Tail Columbian Boa or whatever catches my eye.

As far as room goes i built a rack that will hold 3 30 gallon long tanks or 9 10 gallon tanks. I have 2 corns now. 1 in a 20 Long and both heading for 30 longs.

So I have an open shelf, and a love for snakes.

And of course there are more colubrids in my future, are you nuts they are great and come in just about every color or pattern! I am just waiting til Daytona to buy a more of them as i should be in my own place by then.

Thanks guys!

P.S. Roy, I will be accepting Corn Snake Donations if ever you want to reduce your collection!

So i am researching each animal more closely and i believe the Childrens Python would be the easiest to keep next to getting the banana king i get out everytime i go to my local herp shop or a milk snake or another corn.

I do have an empty 10 gallon that needs a lid, UTH some hides and a water bowl and i could always buy another 20 Gal long for another corn and get 2 snakes.... as the Childrens could live its whole life in a 10-20 gal. hmmm.

Maybe i'll get the childrens and a king.....life has too many dilemmas!

I know i have this on two posts but for different purposes. Mod's feel free to remove if desired.

I went to Repticon Orlando yesterday(sunday) and it was almost identical to Repticon Tampa with a few different animals and displays. No Irian Jaya's were present and only 1 Bredl's that was an adult and not what i was looking for. My girl who is slowly warming up to snakes saw a gorgeous fancy ball python with great coloring and good white borders with i like on ball pythons and she won my heart so i took her home, and my girl held a snake for the first time.

the only other snake i was interested in there was a viper python, but he had a poor tempermant and very faint coloring so not really what i was looking for but still really nice to see.
