Which thermostat?

Hi everyone. This is a product question. I'm still looking for a good thermostat to buy and have narrowed it down to a few. I'm considering the Ranco or Johnson (they seem pretty much the same, let me know if they're not http://www.dsreptiles.com/products.php), Bigappleherp's Herp Power proportional thermostat http://www.bigappleherp.com/Reptile_Supplies/Product/Herp_Power_Proportional_Thermostats_921100.html , and the Helix Basic System http://www.beanfarm.com/temperature/1.html.

Now I don't know if I should buy an on/off thermostat (Ranco) or a proportional one. I would probably set the differential to 1 degree if I went with the Ranco, but does the constant up and down (even of just one degree) affect the snake at all? Which type of thermostat do you recommend?

If I decide to go with a proportional thermostat, is the Helix worth the extra money over the Herp Power? I don't want to spend any more than I have to, but if it's much more reliable then I'll definitely go with it.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Oh yeah, also, does anyone know anything about the Habistat Pulse proportional thermostat? It's a bit cheaper than the rest of the proportional ones.
