White Flakes?

My sister and I noticed today that there were some white flake like things in the container I brought my snake home in (about 4 days ago). They aren't bugs, they're white, loose (I can blow them away easily) and they're hard when I rub them between my fingers. My mom suggested they might be eggs from some bug, like mites, but when I held the snake in the store I specifically looked for mites/tics etc. and I didn't see anything, if he was infested enough that he was dropping eggs from being in a container for less then an hour, I'm sure I would have seen SOMETHING, right?

I was thinking it might have been scales, the woman at the store said he may have shed recently, so maybe it was some scales from that? Maybe he dropped them because of stress or something? I've never heard of a snake doing something like that, though, so could that be what it was?

I'll take a closer look at him when I take him out to eat on Saturday, to see if I can see any bugs or anything like that, but I'm hoping it's just scales, I don't want to have to worry about treating mites already.

They were tiny, and they LOOKED like scales, they were just white/clear like things. And I don't have pics no, my mom flailed at me to rinse the container out before I could get any, though my only available camera was my phone and would have been bad pictures anyways.

Alright will do. They could have not been related to the snake at all for all I know, as the container has been sitting open for 4 days, so who knows.

If I notice anything odd or see it again I'll come back with pictures and go from there, thanks.
